Linguarama London recently welcomed Learning and Development Managers from a range of industries – including retail, shipping, hospitality and telecommunications - to experience firsthand what we can do to enhance a company’s intercultural communication. This is whether they work with a specific culture or across cultures in international teams.
Linguarama has been providing Cultural training for over 20 years and our clients usually choose to have this training for one of several key reasons:
1) to build or manage multi-cultural teams
2) to prepare for a merger or acquisition
3) to foster contact with global clients and contacts
4) to facilitate successful staff relocation
Training at Linguarama is highly interactive and includes a variety of activities - trainer presentation, discussion, self-assessment and awareness-raising exercises. The focus is on practical ways to overcome cultural obstacles in business scenarios specifically relevant to the participants.
The taster session emphasised the fact that, as with any of training at Linguarama, we offer a highly tailored approach. We design the programme around the business areas and cultures that the client needs.
One example given was a course designed for clients from the retail industry which focused on customer service and sales. It included key areas such as:
• building rapport,
• pitching effectively
• understanding the target consumer’s key values and attitudes.
Another example was of a British manager who successfully opened a new office in Germany armed with useful techniques for:
• managing teams – what does your team expect of you ?
• giving presentations – how are they different in Germany?
• communicating effectively with his German staff – how do you structure key messages ?
Linguarama London has also worked with employees from abroad re-locating to the UK to help them and their families settle in to life here - both inside and outside the office.
If you are looking to build effective working relationships and maximise your business potential by improving the efficiency with which you and your employees do business in an intercultural environment, please contact Linguarama London for more information.
